acadia national park
Overview
Rebranding project for Acadia National Park’s visitor guide, designed to create a more interactive and engaging tourist experience. The guide includes the standardized National Park Service unigrid brochure, a mini birdwatching field guide, and an interactive “fortune teller” element to encourage exploration and discovery throughout the towns incorporated throughout the national park, as well as a folder to contain its contents.
Unigrid
A unigrid is a standardized template utilized by the United States National Park Service to create a comprehensive look across all parks. I utilized this grid to create an updated version for Acadia National Park, alongside creating a new visual identity to modernize its already existing system. One side of the unigrid contains the general information of Acadia as well as graphs to help visualize the text. The backside contains a map to help visitors navigate the park.
Town Teller
Town Teller is an interactive fortune teller that invites visitors to play and discover a “fortune,” leading them to a destination within the park. For example, one fortune reads, “Take a dip at Echo Lake Beach!” with the address of its location. The addition of an address ensures a smoother, more accessible experience. When fully unfolded, the fortune teller also reveals fun facts about the town and insights into the history of the land.
Bird Guide
The bird guide is a mini booklet featuring birds found within the park. The book comes with a camera clip that attaches to phones, intended to make bird watching more accessible to visitors without nice cameras and to encourage visitors who didn’t intend on bird watching to do so.
